About me
One teacher truly can make a difference in a student’s life, and this was no different for Lori Sexton. She began her teaching career in 2008 as a middle and high school English teacher at Newton Local Schools, a rural district in southwestern Ohio. During her tenure, she actively supported students beyond the classroom, serving as the sponsor for the National Honor Society, Drama Club, and Senior Class. In 2015, Mrs. Sexton transitioned into school leadership, accepting the role of assistant principal at Piqua High School. There, she led professional learning initiatives for faculty and implemented behavioral support systems to improve student accountability. In 2017, Mrs. Sexton relocated to Tennessee, where she continued her leadership journey as assistant principal at Harris Middle School in Bedford County. At Harris, her efforts focused on student engagement, teacher development, and fostering a positive school culture.Recognized for her strong record of supporting both middle and high school students, Mrs. Sexton was promoted in 2021 to serve as Secondary Supervisor and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director for Bedford County Schools. As district leadership needs evolved, the two roles were separated, and Mrs. Sexton was named full-time CTE Director in 2022. In this capacity, she has played a vital role in developing aligned career pathways, enhancing CTE programs of study, expanding career exploration opportunities in middle schools, and increasing career awareness at the elementary level. She continues to serve as CTE Director and strives to make generational impact on both students and community.
